What does school support mean?

School support is a legally established assistance for children and young people who require support in their school routine. It helps enable participation and independence. School support is not a luxury, but a right.

Tasks of school support:

  • On-site support
  • Enables participation in school life
  • Accompanies the school day with orientation and structure
  • Goal: The child participates in school life as independently as possible.

School support is not responsible for:

  • It does not help with learning (no tutoring)
  • Does not replace therapy or remedial teaching
  • Does not make decisions about learning objectives or performance evaluation

Do you feel your child needs support?

In principle, all children with a physical, mental, or emotional impairment are entitled, provided the support is applied for and approved. You can find out what these specific impairments are on our homepage.

The path to school support has two sides: what you as a family need to do and what we take care of for you. We deliberately separate this so that you know exactly where you stand.

  • Submit application to the cost bearer
  • Choose TeamLike as provider
  • We receive the assignment
  • Individual matching with a suitable support person
  • We coordinate introductions and arrangements
  • Start & ongoing support

Support person is chosen individually based on personality, experience, and needs

A dedicated contact person who knows you and your child at all times

You regularly receive clear and comprehensible development reports

What many families don't know:

Free choice of provider

You always have the legal right to freely choose the provider of your school support – regardless of recommendations.
You have a say in which support person assists your child and do not have to agree to a solution that does not suit your child.
A change of support or provider is possible at any time, even during an ongoing approval. Contact us – we will support you!

If tensions arise in the school routine, we act as a neutral mediator between the child, support, and school.
